DARKBLUEWORLD:

Proof that great things come from taking your time. Since 2002, singer Elizabeth Fischer, guitarist Ron Samworth and Tony Wilson, drummer Skye Brooks and bassist Pete Schmitt have developed a sound that is beautifully captured here. Akin to Diamanda Galas singing German cabaret music as played by King Crimson, or something like that, the music is thoroughly engaging. Over it all, Fischer's sinuous voice delivers her often dark and edgy lyrics about "love songs for the dead" and smiling angels inside picture frames. A

old news :

on sat. may 6, we shall once again grace the (tiny, cramped, lit by 2 blue lightbulbs, ron might fall off, okay, anyone except skye might fall off. skye won't fall off because he sits at the drums and besides, he doesn't do ah, substances which cause one to fall off things, such as a) stage at r i m e .

which is at 1130 commercial drive.

probably pete won't fall off either because we shall glue him to the curtain at the back. it's nice! it's red velvet! elizabeth shall be howling at the moon as usual. if you buy her a glass of red wine, she promises to howl louder. at which point ron definitely will fall off stage. and won't that be fun!

darkblueworld will be performing tunes off their upcoming cd, to be released at the end of june on Drip Audio.

and

darkblueworld will be suitably intensified with the addition of the sublime accordion extravaganzas of mr. david roundell.

various live gigs, elizabeth advised to stop cursing a the audience in hungarian, cause, well, yeah

went on a gulf islands tour. took many ferries. took many pictures of ferries. played for many people, most of whom we did not know personally. made friends with a horse, several dogs, numerous aging hippies. it was our first tour, a test-tour if you will. it was swell; we got along, we played well, people liked us lots. elizabeth ran across several fans from her ex-art-punkette days, which was odd. seemingly, they had all ran away to the islands.

1067 was much fun, inspired even. sweaty. underestimated attendance. which is okay, except for the saunaish aspect of the venue and nothing left to drink cause the place ran out. people kept asking to buy a cd or something and we had none.

next:

recording. We applied for a grant. Who knows, maybe we'll get it. If we don't we shall have to humiliate ourselves in some other, more effective, fashion.

update:

we have started recording our tunes for a cd.
